Welcome to Reading. Reading. Yes. Reading. For some of you the word is like saying Voldemorte. Others feel like their favorite slice of pizza just landed on their plate. One the most polarizing words in the literary lexicon. You either love reading, or you wish it would go away before you break out into hives. I get it. I've actually been on both sides of that coin. I can go long stints without touching a book, simply because I am distracted or overwhelmed. I also have nostalgic memories of checking 8 or 9 books out of the public library every week as a young kid, and just stacked them on my bedside table wondering which one I would dig into first. I could read all day. So, lucky for you, where ever you are coming from, I get it. Mine is a unique case. But a good one. I see the entire spectrum. What gets people to read, or like reading? Who knows. Ask an athlete how he does this or that. He'll stare at you, puzzled, and say, "I have no idea." It's natural. So, same with reading. However, if yours is a mild allergy to the books, it's ok. You can get through it. At the Gelato, you may even discover that you like reading, if you're not careful. Those who read incessantly (always), well, I feel for you, too. Spinning your wheels in a classroom waiting for a challenge is "beat." The Gelato will show you to some steeper slopes, more sinuous paths, and more convoluted concepts your brain has been parched to explore.
